The advantage of the roller tappet conversion kit is that the contact surface of the cam is significantly larger compared to the original bucket tappet. As a result, the force can be better distributed and there is less friction and shear forces at one point. Defective pump tappets are therefore a thing of the past. Defective pump tappets can irreparably damage the cam on the camshaft. The intake camshaft must therefore be completely replaced. In addition, chips caused by the defect can fall into the oil pan. This is where the balancer shaft module is located together with the oil pump. Damage to this module usually results in major engine damage. Another advantage is the improved guidance of the pump piston. This prevents the high-pressure pump from leaking. The shaft seal of the high-pressure pump can become leaky over time and fuel enters the oil circuit. As a result, the oil loses its lubricating properties and bearing damage occurs on the connecting rods!
